Notes from Skip

Hello everybody,

I hope you had a really good holiday and are refreshed and ready to go because you need to be!

This year sees one of the most important and exciting events ever in Scouting and you are privileged to be part of it.

The ‘Launch’ takes place on September 20th and it will mean that Scouting will be making its biggest change in history. Age groups are changing (but this will not affect any of you at present,) training is changing, Awards are changing, and in fact everything is changing for the better!

We shall be holding a ‘Launch’ ceremony on Friday 20th September when the changes will be explained and the official change will take place.

Another piece of good news is that we have a refurbished Scout hut. Many hours have been spent to make a marvellous new facility for our group to extend the programme in line with the new style of scouting. We are one of the most fortunate groups in the area with our facilities and equipment so let’s use it!

A programme for this term has been made and is enclosed. It follows the new national themes and some Saturday extension events. We want to build up the troop using you as our core, and attract new members from the Cubs, Year 6 pupils and your ‘good’ friends.

Please remember it is important to be in correct uniform, which includes scout or school trousers and you will need to be committed to our activities. You must be ready to go!

Anyway that is enough for now, we look forward to seeing you on Friday 13th September when we will start our meeting at 8.00 sharp.

Yours in Scouting,

Skip
